We will try the earlier meeting time this month to see how it works for the group. Stay tuned for more details!
This will be our second meeting of the Kula Study Group.
Remember to bring a potluck dish for dinner, your Yoga Sutra texts, your binder or folder or notebook for notes and handouts.................. and don't forget ATHA!
Last month we received a general overview of the history and overall philosophy of Patanjali's Yoga Sutra with a reference and some explanation of Samkhya philosophy from which Patanjali comes out of.
Our homework is to find a Sutra text, read the Sutras from start to finish without analysis, the first brush if you will.
We are also asked to experience the gross elements of the material world: earth, water, fire, air, and space both within ourselves and observing these elements in other people and objects in the world as well.
This session we will open with a more specific teaching of "trading time" which is a direct practice of welcoming. This practice will serve as our opening meditation for the evening.
We will then do a brief review of Samkhya Philosophy and share about the results of the homework experience.
We'll then turn our attention to our discussion about the Sutras, specifically Sutra 1.1 by unpacking and breaking it down to look deeply into this most important broad based sutra which will include discussions about time and space, physics and quantum physics, Bell's theorem and how it relates to Unity Consciousness.
This month's meeting will be at Wilbur's home in Dinkytown. The U of M students are back from Spring Break, so parking may be a little difficult. The neighborhood is well traveled and safe, so walking from you car should not be a problem. If you would like an escort, just call Wilbur - 651.488.6112. The address is:
