Tuesday Evening Yoga

Date:
Tuesday, June 16th, 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Join us for our last Tuesday class of the Spring session!

Class proposal:

Inquiry:

“What is this tension that keeps the boundary of separation in place?”

The ease of Being:

We begin with the experience of Stillness that underlies, supports, and informs all movement (life)......

The lesson of movement (life):

Warrior vinyasa ultimately points out that abhyasa (right practice) is not about transformation (striving); its about experiencing what's already there (curiosity).

What’s already present is realized from the realm of the body, which enlivens the senses and takes the ‘I’ out of the perception, putting the sensory back into awareness.........
thereby breaking up the localization:  "I am XYZ"

Living from the realm of the body offers an
interconnected experience with what is arising in you.

Now what is arising in you as awareness in Awareness is immanent.......

Yoga Nidra Dyads:

Curiosity (versus striving) underlies, supports, and informs loving-kindness (maitri).

Loving-kindness addresses the strong, universal tendency to distance ourselves from our experience when it is painful, uncomfortable, strange or odd.

Right practice (abhyasa) encourages us to move closer to our experiences, to our lives, to our Selves, to each other by being willing to welcome all that is arising in this moment. (YS 1.12)

Dedication of Merit:

The Kula - one of The Three Treasures

The Kula is one of the three treasures that support us in realizing the truth of who we are.

Your Kula is a community of the 'compassionate wise';
devoted people who care about your well being and reemergence beyond the level of a friendship, touching us in profound and meaningful ways.

It is in the Kula that we find how difficult it is to live in a truly ethical way.  We begin to understand that generosity and forgiveness require some kind of a letting go. And that we can not do this on our own.

Summer 2009 Sessions

Summer session runs through the month of August.  You can register and attend these classes using the Kula Registration Form. We do invite students to join the class after the start of the session.

Class Agenda

Our time together will include:

  • Individual time to 'welcome' oneself to the class
  • Invocational chanting
  • Sankalpa (setting intention)
  • Philosophy of Yoga taught through Satsanga  the sharing of the wisdom teachings
  • Integrative exercises of sensation - experienced in dyads to ground the concepts of Yoga Nidra
  • Grounding and activating asana (posture) practice
  • Body-sensing and Breath-sensing (a form of Hatha Yoga)
  • Yoga Nidra - a transforming process in which we systematically uncover and discard our self-limiting beliefs leading us to lasting healing and restoring us to innate wholeness.

I find any seasonal or personal transition to be a great time to follow Ramana Maharishi's essential teaching:

Be Still.......and know.........

We'll use this teaching as the underlying foundation from which one's self-inquiry in the unqualified nondual tradition will sprout from.

On behalf of all the students and teachers of Kula Yoga, we'd love to invite you to join our circle in the spirit and practice of moving into stillness from which all sensation arises, unfolds and dissolves back into.
