Everyone is Welcome!

Here at the Kula, we practice "radical yoga". The word radical is derived from the prefix 'rad' which means a return to the root.  We teach from the shoulders of the ancients, following the eightfold path of classical yoga which includes gentle asana, basic pranayama (breath practice) deep listening exercises to support the main practice of yoga - meditation.

This class is appropriate for anyone, you do not need prior experience with yoga.  Many classes begin with either a check in or a welcoming silent time to ground into the here and now.

If you are ready to call off the search for some state outside yourself and experience your completeness right now - or are willing to consider such an intention, this community and its offerings are a good fit for you.

This session we are working with understanding the nature of the mind and the absolute reality of pure experience outside the realm of conceptual mind.  Check out particular class dates below for more in-depth explanation.

Class Agenda

Our time together will include:

  • Individual time to 'welcome' oneself to the class
  • Invocational chanting
  • Sankalpa (setting and integrating intention into one's life)
  • Philosophy of Yoga taught through Satsanga -  the sharing of the wisdom teachings
  • Integrative exercises experienced in dyads to ground the concepts of the present moment
  • Grounding asana (posture) practice
  • Body-sensing (a form of Hatha Yoga)
  • Breath-sensing (a form of pranayama)
  • Yoga Nidra - a transforming experiencial process in which we systematically uncover and discard our self-limiting beliefs leading us to lasting healing and restoring us to innate wholeness.

I find any seasonal or personal transition to be a great time to follow Ramana Maharishi's essential teaching:

Be Still.......and know.........

We'll use this teaching that Katherine received at Ramana Maharishi's ashram in South India as the underlying foundation from which one's self-inquiry in the unqualified nondual tradition will sprout from.

On behalf of all the students and teachers of Kula Yoga, we'd love to invite you to join our circle in the spirit and practice of moving into stillness from which all sensation arises, unfolds and dissolves back into.
